A Rich History: Coursen's Corners
Journey back to the 1800s and discover Coursen’s Corners, the busy little village at the intersection of Phil Hardin Road and Stillwater Road—once the heart of the community along what was then a narrow, dusty Route 94.
Historic Center: In the 19th century, this area boasted a blacksmith shop, a tannery, a tailor shop, stores, a post office, and a chapel, along with the school.
The Coursen Legacy: The history of Fredon is deeply tied to the Coursen family, who arrived in the mid-18th century. The Colonel John Coursen Homestead, built circa 1805 and currently being refurbished by the Keepers of Coursen's Corners, stands today as a testament to Fredon’s agricultural roots and community development, adjacent to Lodestar Park.
The Fredon Fountain House: A historic landmark that served as a favorite stop for travelers, the Fredon Fountain House remains in operation today.
We invite you to explore the beauty and history of Fredon—a place where open spaces, community pride, and historical preservation meet.
