FREDON TOWNSHIP RECREATION COMMISSION

MEETING MINUTES

January 17, 2024

This meeting is in compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act, Public Law 1975, Chapter 231, Sections 4 and 13 as advertised by public notice.

This meeting of the Fredon Recreation Committee was called to order by Vice-Chairman Olsen at 7:01pm.

SALUTE TO THE FLAG

ROLL CALL

PRESENT- Arne Olson, Bob Wilson, and Christine Power

ABSENT- Melissa Deitz, Isiah Brown, and Carole Zaret

ALSO PRESENT- Michelle Kochis

REORGANIZATION 2024

Mr. Olsen stated that positions within the Commission will remain as noted from the October meeting. Melissa Deitz will remain as Chairperson. Arne Olsen will remain as Vice-Chairman.

Mr. Olsen would like to create a new position, Treasurer, within the Recreation Commission. Opened discussion to the other members. Closed discussion. All in favor. So moved. A detailed list of responsibilities of all positions will be discussed at next meeting.

MINUTES

Mr. Olsen moved acceptance of the minutes for the October 18, 2023 meeting as posted and waived reading. All in favor. So moved.

As shown in attached agenda.

DISCUSSION ITEMS

  • Fredon Township Facilities Use Packet

Mr. Olsen moved to allow Recreation Coordinator, Alexandra Usinowicz, the authority to approve applications. Wording within the Facilities Use Packet will be revised as noted. All in favor. So moved.

  • Confirm Townwide Contact List

Mr. Olsen asked the Recreation Coordinator where the list of contacts was located as members have brought to his attention that the list was incorrect. Recreation Coordinator, Alexandra Usinowicz, confirmed that the list on the Fredon Township site was correct and that the issues were located within the Recreation League Website. Mr. Olsen then asked the Recreation Coordinator to please provide information regarding a website monitoring/IT company to help with the Recreation League Website. Information was emailed after the meeting. Mr. Olsen also suggested having a laminated contact list posted on the door of the Civic Center. All in favor. So moved.

  • 2024 Meeting Dates were discussed during Reorganization.

Recreation Commission Event Dates

Event dates for 2024 were discussed and approved as follows:

3/23 Easter Breakfast and Egg Hunt @ Lodestar Park

5/18 Fredon Day

9/6 Movie Night in the Park

10/26 Trunk or Treat

12/7 Breakfast with Santa

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Township Committee

No Representation. No Report.

Park Maintenance

Mr. Olsen requested that the tree and vines be addressed on the front of the Pavilion. He would also like the vines to be addressed that are taking over the big pine tree by the flagpole. Noted and sent requests to the DPW Supervisor.
