This SPECIAL MEETING of the Fredon Township Committee was called to order by Committeeman Lazzaro at 5:30 P. M.
Acting Chairman Lazzaro advised those present that this meeting was being held in compliance with provisions of P.L. 1975, Chapter 231, Sections 4 & 13, as noticed to the New Jersey Herald and Sunday Herald in January 2020.
ATTENDING: Mr. Green, Mr. Lazzaro, Mr. Richardson (via phone)
ABSENT: Mr. Masi, Mr. Flora
Acting Chairman Lazzaro invited those present to participate in a flag salute.
RESOLUTION 2020-38: EXTENDING TAX COLLECTION GRACE PERIOD TO JUNE 1ST
Governor Murphy’s Executive Order 130 permits a governing body to adopt a resolution extending the grace period for property tax payments due on May 1st to June 1st. It was noted that the Executive Order did not extend the statutory deadlines to remit the levy to the school districts and the county.
Committeeman Green stated that at this time the Township has the cash reserves to do this for the three weeks, but that anything longer would create a problem. Committeeman Green noted that this action is about as much as the municipality can do to help the homeowners during the pandemic.
Upon Motion by Committeeman Green with second by Committeeman Richardson, action was moved to approve Resolution 2020-38.
ROLL CALL: Mr. Green, aye; Mr. Lazzaro, aye; Mr. Richardson, aye; Motion carried.
RESOLUTION 2020-38 as annexed, was introduced and passed at this Special Meeting of the Fredon Township Committee.
Acting Chairman Lazzaro opened the meeting to the public at this time. There being no comments from the public, Acting Chairman Lazzaro closed the meeting to the public.
There being no further business before the Committee, upon Motion by Committeeman Green, with second by Committeeman Richardson, this meeting was adjourned at 5:35 P. M. All approved.
