Fredon Township Office of Emergency Management – Weather Advisory

The National Weather Service and JCP&L are monitoring a weather system expected to impact New Jersey this weekend. Forecasts currently indicate the potential for scattered thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds that could result in downed trees, power outages, and hazardous travel conditions.

JCP&L has already begun storm preparations by:

• Staging additional line, forestry, and contractor crews.

• Implementing 24-hour response operations.

• Coordinating with state and local emergency management officials.

Now is the time to prepare:

Charge cell phones and backup batteries.

Have flashlights with fresh batteries readily available.

Stock bottled water, nonperishable food, and any necessary medications.

Keep vehicle fuel tanks at least half full and have a car charger for your phone.

If you rely on a private well or septic system, store an adequate supply of drinking water.

Safety Reminders

• Stay well away from any downed or sagging power lines—they should always be treated as energized.

• Never operate generators inside your home, garage, or other enclosed spaces due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

• Never use gas stoves or other open-flame appliances to heat your home.

If outages occur, report them directly to JCP&L and call 911 immediately if you see downed power lines or encounter another emergency.

Fredon OEM will continue to monitor conditions and share updates as they become available. Please monitor trusted weather sources throughout the weekend and take the time now to ensure your family is prepared.

Stay safe,
